AGF in a release signed by its Acting Coordinator, Mr. Sikiru Tijani and made available to PMParrotng in Osogbo, commended the leadership style of Aregbesola noting that his administration has successfully laid solid foundation for socio-economic development in the state.
Enumerating some of the accomplished monumental projects of the present administration in the state, the group inferred that no government before the inception of Aregbesola had paid serious attention to infrastructure as being done by the current administration.
According to the group, “When Governor Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola came on board, he ensured peaceful co-existence among our people despite the political tension at the time, till date, he ensures the security of life and property of all the people of Osun.
“To mention but a few as the present administration led by Governor Aregbesola has touched all aspects of the economy.
“One of the most amazing projects accomplished by Aregbesola’s administration was initiation of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) that provided jobs for over 40,000 unemployed youths who were massively taken out of the street through social works arrangement.
“Aside this, Governor Aregbesola is building several state-of-the-art schools with serene environment conducive for teaching and learning across the state just as massive roads construction and rehabilitation are still ongoing all over the state.
“Osun ‘Ofada’ rice was recently launched by Mr. Governor as a result of massive investment in Agricultural development with aim of ensuring food security in the Southwest of Nigeria.
“Similarly, Osun government had successfully championed O’meal project which guarantees a free-full diet meal per child per day in all the elementary schools, as well as the invention of Opon Imo; a computer device that houses more than 19 textbooks for the secondary school students.
“For us at Osun AGF, we appreciate the Almighty God for giving us Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola as a governor at a time like this when we need a man with fear of God and love for the people of Osun.
“For these noble reasons, we reaffirm our total support for Governor Aregbesola in his bid to take Osun and her people out of the pit of poverty and place the residents of the state to the path of success.”
Also speaking on the political trends in the state as regards next year’s governorship election, AGF called for decency and decorum among the party members most importantly among those aspiring to succeed Aregbesola.
The statement reads in parts: “We are studying the ongoing political turmoil in Osun and so far we have not seen anything strange in the whole political saga.
“It is a known fact that in a build-up to the election, a lot of scenes will characterise the atmosphere as a lot of gladiators will be involved in the scheming for the topmost office.
“So it is normal and expected that such scenario will attract very many actors with diverse opinions, characters and actions as Aregbesola’s tenure is gradually winding down.
“But for us at The Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation; AGF in Osun, it is all about a worthy successor, a successor that will crave seriously despite all odds to match the overall developments template laid by Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.
“Any political gladiator that will be participating in the scene of current Osun political drama must do so in consonance with laid down rules and procedures of our great party APC in the State of Osun and with the love for the welfare of the people.”
