The Lagos Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, will hold a rally today, Tuesday, in support of five dismissed lecturers of the Lagos State University, Ojo.
The union in a letter of invitation made available to PUNCH Online on Monday said the lecturers were illegally dismissed by LASU.
The letter reads, “This is to respectfully invite you to the National Day of Solidarity Rally in support of five of our members illegally dismissed from service by the inept, inglorious and vindictive an administration at the Lagos State University, Ojo.”
The rally will commence by 10 am.
The university management in 2019, dismissed several ASUU members, including Isaac Oyewumi, the union’s chairman; Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu, vice chairman; Dr. Tony Dansu, secretary; Adeolu Oluwaseyi Oyekan, assistant secretary; and Oluwakemi Aboderin-Shonibare, treasurer.

The university asserted that accusations of unauthorised removal, retention, distribution, or publication of official confidential documents led to the dismissal of the lecturers.
