Atiku, Others In ADC Are Just ‘Window Shoppers’ – Ex-PDP Legal Adviser
Former Legal Adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jacob Mark, has described ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other PDP members aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as mere “window shoppers” lacking political seriousness.
Speaking on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Thursday, Mark accused Atiku of political inconsistency, citing his frequent party defections in search of a presidential ticket.
He said he would not take Atiku seriously until he formally resigned from the PDP and joined ADC.
“Anyone who has not resigned from his political party and is moving up and down — he’s in SDP today, ADA tomorrow, now ADC — should not be taken seriously,” Mark stated.
When asked if Atiku fits into that category, he responded, “Until he resigns from the PDP, I will not take him seriously.”
Mark further insisted that it is unconstitutional for Atiku to pursue presidential nominations from both PDP and ADC at the same time.
“You can’t be shopping for a presidential ticket in ADC and shopping for a presidential ticket in PDP at the same time. That is not allowed by law. You must belong to one,” he said.
Referring to Atiku’s political history, Mark recalled how he and five governors walked out of the PDP convention in 2011 to form an alliance with the opposition, lost the election, and returned without consequences.
“That’s the foundation of political rascality that has not been punished. People walk in and out every time. You’ll go where you want, come back and receive a presidential ticket, and when it doesn’t suit you again, you walk away. When you go there and lose, you come back again and you’ll be accommodated in the party without consequences,” he said.
Mark concluded that such conduct has contributed to the problem of anti-party activities in the PDP.
