Atiku, Peter Obi, El-Rufai Visit Buhari’s Graveside After Burial In Daura
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; ex-Kaduna Governor, Nasir el-Rufai; and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Wednesday visited the grave of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, to condole with his family.
Peter Obi, former Anambra governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, also paid a condolence visit to the late president’s family in Daura.
Buhari, who ruled Nigeria as military head of state from 1983 to 1985 and served as elected president from 2015 to 2023, passed away on Sunday at a clinic in London.
His remains arrived Nigeria on Tuesday, accompanied by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
President Tinubu received the body at Katsina Airport alongside a government delegation.
Buhari was laid to rest the same day in his hometown with full military honours.
His body, draped in the Nigerian flag, was wheeled to the graveside—reportedly a favourite spot in his garden while alive—by military pallbearers, as gun salutes rang out in his honour.
Thousands of mourners and dignitaries were present to pay their final respects to the late leader.
