THE 1500 newly recruited teachers sacked by Governor Ademola Adeleke of the State of Osun have appealed to the Governor to attend to their plight and reinstate them back into service.
The sacked teachers appealed to Adeleke while participating in this year’s Workers’ Day celebration held at the Osogbo township stadium on Monday.

It would be recalled that Adeleke sacked the teachers who were recruited by his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola after losing the July 16 governorship election.
The sacked teachers who carried a banner while performing their march past, said they were hopeful of joining the State workforce soon.
Some of the inscriptions on the banner are: “Forum of 1500 Newly Recruited Teachers In Osun State felicitate with Our Dear Governor and Osun State Workers on this occasion of 2023 Workers’ Day.
“We are very hopeful to join you soon. Our dear Governor, please attend to our plight.
“The journey of over two years isn’t a child’s play. Moving Osun State forward is our priority”.
Meanwhile, Adeleke has assured that his administration would focus on workers’ welfare, saying a happy public service translates into a booming local economy across the state.
Adeleke said: “Dear comrades, our administration is focusing on workers’ welfare because that is the right thing to do. There is a strong link between the formal and informal workforce in Osun state.
“When the formal workforce, the public servants are cared for, the informal sector fairs better. A very happy public service translates into a booming local economy across the state.
“To address poverty and underdevelopment, the first place to start is the positive treatment of public workers. Their salaries and allowances fuel prosperity within the local economy.”
