August 15: INEC Transfers Osun REC Few Months To Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission has reportedly redeployed the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, Dr Mutiu Agboke to Ondo State.

Dr Agboke’s transfer came a few months before the gubernatorial election in Osun State scheduled for August 15.

Agboke was posted to Osun State in 2022 from Oyo State.

His redeployment came few hours after a group of political parties in the commended the Independent Electoral Commission in the state for keeping to its promise of being neutral in the process leading to the forthcoming August 15 governorship election in the state.

In a statement signed by the state chairman of Action Peoples Party, Titus Oluseye Odesola, on behalf of other parties in Osogbo on Wednesday, the parties appreciated INEC for its professionalism and comportment in keeping the peaceful atmosphere in the build-up to the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

According to Odesola, INEC staff in the state have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, which has shown the level of their preparedness, right from the commencement of the Continuous Voters Registration till date.

The commission is yet to issue an official statement on the reported transfer of Agboke as at the time of filing this report.
