Australian government, has expressed its readiness to collaborate with Osun government in ensuring agricultural revolution in the state, with a view to tackling poverty and create employment opportunities.
A press statement by Director, Bureau of Communication & Strategy in the office of the Governor, Semiu Okanlawon quoted the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Lehmann, as saying making the commitment when he paid visit to the governor in Osogbo.
Lehmann identified education, agriculture and security as major areas to which the state had made huge investment.
The envy said Osun had sincerely demonstrated that development could only be achieved in a society built on virile educational foundation.
“I am here to know which area we can be of help to each other as well advance our business and trade partnership.
“Australia is vast in mining, sports, agriculture, husbandry and education.
For this singular reason, my visit has made me to see the need to strengthen cooperation with your government on education, agriculture and other sensitive areas.
Since the state is blessed with mineral resources, I am assuring you of my country’s fruitful partnership with Osun to accomplish all her dreams,’’ he said.
Lehmann commended Aregbesola on his social protection programmes in the state.
Responding, Aregbesola called for a symbiotic and collaborative partnership between Osun and Australian Government in mining, education, security and animal husbandry.
He said Australia being the world leader in mining and animal husbandry, could be a greater supporter to the state in promoting and advancing the agricultural potential of Osun.
