Ayedire Council Boss Seeks Traditional Rulers Support Over Tax Payment

The Executive Secretary of Ayedire Local Government, Otunba Oladejo Mukaila has charged residents of the various towns in the council to make payment of rates a duty towards developing the local government.

The council boss while speaking at a gathering disclosed that some of the projects embarked upon by the local government are suffering as a result of lack of funds, saying the local government needs the support of the populace to thrive.

He said the shop owners in major towns are not cooperating with the council officials who are on the field to receive payment, adding that such attitude is inimical to the progress of the communities in the area.

“Dues such as tenement rate, tax, Hackney permit for vehicles and motorcycle are the major sources of revenue available to the local government and it would be a disservice for our people not to comply with the payment”, he said.

He then sought the support of the traditional rulers in the various communities to reach out to the people on the need to support the council by discharging their civic responsibilities effectively.

He also charged community leaders, opinion moulders and religious leaders to always rally round the local government in its bid to make life better for the populace.
