Babcock Threatens Legal Action Against Carter Efe Over Alleged Forged Certificate
Babcock University has threatened legal action against Nigerian streamer and content creator Carter Efe over an alleged forged certificate he shared online.
The controversy began after Carter Efe, during an interview with Egungun of Lagos, claimed he graduated from the private university with top honours.
He later posted what he described as his graduation certificate on X, claiming he earned a degree in Biochemistry with a “First Class Upper.”
Reacting in a public statement issued on Sunday, Babcock University dismissed the claim as false, stating that the institution has no academic classification known as “First Class Upper.”
The university also clarified that it does not issue honorary certificates for undergraduate academic performance, describing the document circulated by the streamer as fraudulent.
“FRAUD ALERT, Babcock University does not issue ‘Honorary Certificates’ for undergraduate performance and has no classification known as ‘First Class Upper.’
“Any document claiming otherwise is fraudulent and should be disregarded. We urge the public to verify all credentials through the Office of the Registrar,” the statement read.
The university added that it would pursue appropriate legal action against those responsible for the alleged forgery.
