Social media users have criticised the decision of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), to sign a memorandum of understanding at the ongoing COP28 Climate Change summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Pictures shared on X by REA, Ahmad Salihjo, REA CEO and Khalil Halilu, NASENI CEO, showed the signing of the MoU with the two agency heads posing with the documents.
The MOU among other things, according to the agencies is to fashion out collaboration towards electrification of rural and underserved areas in Nigeria, share knowledge, data and information related to rural electrification and promote the use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and biomass in rural electrification.
Following the social media post, some Nigerians began to knock both agencies for not signing the agreement in Abuja, where their headquarters are located.
Below are some of the comments that greeted the posts:

@ChuksBrunoOk: “And you had to go to Dubai to do the signing. When you lots have depleted the commonwealth of the nation I believe you will be satisfied then until then keep at it.”
