Balogun Uncertain About Super Eagles Friendly Matches

Nigeria centre-back Leon Balogun is 50-50 for the Super Eagles friendlies against Corsica and Togo after he picked up an injury.

The defender limped off the pitch in the 18th minute of Mainz 05’s final game of the 2016/17 Bundesliga season against Cologne with a suspected thigh problem.

The 28-year-old was replaced by Alexander Hack in the 2-0 loss as Jonas Hector and Japanese striker Yuya Osako scored to condemn Mainz to defeat and ending they’re the season on a bad note.

The defender has played 21 times for Mainz in all competitions in a season blighted by injuries and loss of form.

The German side hasn’t released a time-frame for his return but it is suspected he will be out for two weeks which means he is doubtful for the friendlies but might return for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.
