Bandits Allegedly Threaten Ikoyi-Ile Residents, Announce Fresh Attack Date
Residents of Ikoyi-Ile town in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been thrown into fear following an alleged threat by suspected bandits to launch a fresh attack on the community.
According to information obtained on Monday, the suspected bandits reportedly sent threat messages to residents, warning that Ikoyi-Ile would be attacked on Tuesday, January 20.
The threats were allegedly conveyed through two separate handwritten notes, said to have been authored by the assailants. Copies of the notes have reportedly circulated within the community, heightening tension and anxiety among residents.
Although the authenticity of the messages has not been officially confirmed by security agencies as of the time of filing this report, community members said the development has deepened fears amid growing insecurity in the area.
Recall that OSUN DEFENDER had earlier reported an attack on Oloka village, located near the Old Oyo National Park, within the same local government area. During the attack, gunmen suspected to be bandits opened fire, killing five people.
The recent incidents have raised serious security concerns among residents of Oriire Local Government, who are now calling on the state and federal governments to urgently deploy security personnel to forestall any further attacks.
Efforts to reach the Oyo State Police Command for official comments on the alleged threat were unsuccessful as of press time.
