Bar Attendant Gets Six Months Jail Term For Stealing Employers Money

A young man named Semiu Alabi, who works as a bar attendant was on Wednesday sentenced to 6 months imprisonment at an Ota Magistrate Court in Ogun State without an option of fine, for stealing his employer’s N165,000.

Ojelade said that the sentence would serve as deterrent to others.

The 25-year-old convict, of no fixed address, had earlier pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Gbesi Chudu, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 2, at about 8.30 p.m.  at Rock Hotel and Bar, Atan, Ogun.

Chudu said the accused, which was the bar attendant at the hotel, refused to remit N165, 000 proceed of sales of drinks to his employer, one Mr Adebayo Abidoye.

He said that the offence violated Section 421 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Law of Ogun, 2006
