Barcelona Extend Stay At Olympic Stadium As Camp Nou Renovation Continues
Barcelona will play the remainder of their home matches this season at the Olympic Stadium, as work on the Camp Nou renovation faces further delays.
The La Liga giants had initially hoped to return to their historic ground before the end of the current campaign.
However, after revising their timeline once again, the club has now confirmed that the team will continue playing at the temporary venue for the rest of the season.
In a statement to club members on Thursday, Barcelona assured fans that tickets for their remaining La Liga and Champions League fixtures at the Olympic Stadium would be available for purchase.
The Catalan side has been using the temporary home since the start of the 2023-24 season while work continues on the Camp Nou.
When the stadium reopens next season, it will initially accommodate over 60,000 spectators. The full expansion, which will see Camp Nou’s capacity rise to 105,000, is expected to be completed by the summer of 2026.
The project, which began in June 2023, has faced multiple setbacks, including permit delays and concerns over working conditions.
Despite these challenges, Barcelona remain committed to delivering a world-class stadium that aligns with their ambitious plans for the future.
With Xavi’s men currently competing for domestic and European honours, the club will hope that the extended stay at the Olympic Stadium does not disrupt their momentum as the season reaches its crucial stage.
