A former factional Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Omoluabi Abosede Oluwaseun has described comments by the National Secretary of the party, Ajibola Basiru, on the formation of the Omoluabi Progressives Osun, a caucus in the APC.
Describing the statement as mischievous, Oluwaseun noted that the Omoluabi caucus, which is not a faction houses foundational members of the progressives in the state and not fair weathered elements, who came to the fold after it has recorded success.
The youth politician explained that the new caucus as explained by its patron, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is to reinvigorate the APC in Osun, and correct the issues that led to the party’s distasteful outing in the last major elections in the state.

THE FULL STATEMENT
I read on social media a statement credited to the defeated Senator Ajibola Basiru on the OMOLUABI PROGRESSIVES caucus of the APC which was launched today by OGBENI RAUF ADESOJI AREGBESOLA.
I know for mischief purpose, pompousity grandstanding and poor mannerism, Basiru could call white black and devil God to further showcase his trait.
To set the record straight, Omoluabi Progressive, a caucus of APC in Osun State, and not a faction. It is only Basiru and his co-travellers that will give or call a dog a bad name just to kill it.
Quoting D Great OGBENI directly, “The Omoluabi Tendency is a caucus within the All Progressives Congress (APC); actually one of the caucuses in the state. We are not a faction. We are the genuine foundation members of the party and we have no intention of abandoning the ship of the party as it navigates the most turbulent waters. We are no splinters, but long-distance runners and we will still be standing when all the fair-weathers have gone”.
Our party APC failed principally because of loss of focus; incompetence, lack of party cohesion and character vis-a-vis mental and moral qualities which abinitio was domicile in our party but eroded us immediately after 2018 election.
Sadly, this is still eating the fabric of the APC; as manifested today in the statement uttered by Sen. AJIBOLA BASIRU while criticising our genuineness of refusing to sit down and look while they run the party down again.
BASIRU failed once again to see through the missing link and embrace the required “Inclusivity” as is being done by his National Chairman in the case of IMO State APC crisis which was resolved days ago.
BASIRU’s double standard came to the fore again while criticising The OMOLUABI PROGRESSIVES CAUCUS at the very scene where he was welcoming another Caucus loyal to his own side of APC. Such character fell short of an individual occupying the administrative soul of the party and is a clear indication that he may fall short of performing the herculean task of holistic & just treatment required to lead the party.
Anyways, the OMOLUABI PROGRESSIVES Caucus embraces all into our system and APC at large irrespective of their previous alliance and political divide, the effort to rebuild the party starts now. Doing so with competence and good character is in line with our core value.
I urge the OMOLUABI Caucus Executives which was drawn from the 332 Wards in the State and 155 local government overnments representatives to stay focus, enthusiastic and be conscious of the uneasy task ahead, definitely, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.
