Bauchi Schools To Resume April 6 After Ramadan Break
Bauchi State Ministry of Education has announced that schools will reopen on Sunday, April 6, after a five-week Ramadan break. Both day and boarding schools are set to resume for the continuation of the second term.
The Ministry, through its Public Relations Officer, Jalaludeen Usman, on Thursday, urged parents and guardians to ensure that their wards return on time to avoid any disruption in their academic progress.
The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam, reiterated that education remains a top priority for the state government.
He also revealed that the Ministry will soon begin JAMB CBT training for all sponsored JAMB students to prepare them for exams funded by the Bauchi State Government.
The statement read, “The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam, wishes to remind parents and guardians that the resumption date for the continuation of the second term is Sunday, 6th April, for both day and boarding schools in Bauchi State.
“As education remains a top priority for the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, the Ministry of Education is committed to ensuring the success of all students.
“Parents and guardians are advised to ensure their wards resume on the stipulated date to avoid any disruptions to their academic progress,” the statement added.
The break, which started on March 1, 2025, for Ramadan, was initially planned in the 2024–2025 academic calendar, but the extended closure raised concerns from religious groups and civil society organisations about its effect on the education system.
The Ministry also warned that late resumption would not be tolerated.
