A father, his son, and a Hausa trader have reportedly died in a mysterious well accident while trying to recover a pale-fetcher, in Oju Township of Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.

The incident, Osun Defender gathered caused pandemonium in the area.

According to sources, the mishap began when the father, Mr Matthew Ijii, sent his teenage son to a nearby well to fetch water for him.

The source said the boy, lost the fetcher in the pit and in an attempt to recover the fetcher, stooped into the well where he met his untimely death.

The father, according to the eyewitness upon hearing about the news, also rushed into the pit to rescue his son but had little time before death caught up with him.

The eyewitness said a Hausa trader who tried to evacuate the bodies of the victims from the well lost his life in what many deem to be a mystery.

The bodies of the three victims were rushed to Holy Cross Hospital, Oju, where they were all confirmed dead.

Efforts to confirm the incident from the Benue State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, proved fruitless.
