Beware! Nigeria Customs Denies Viral July 2025 CBT Announcement
The Nigeria Customs Service has disowned a viral press release making rounds on social media and messaging platforms, which falsely claims that a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for its ongoing recruitment will be held in July 2025.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by its National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS described the document as “fraudulent, misleading and not from the Nigeria Customs Service.”
According to the Service, the fake release is riddled with inconsistencies, particularly in its formatting and structure. It noted that the so-called e-signature attached to the announcement does not align with its official standard and that the recruitment timeline referenced is entirely baseless.
“The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service has been drawn to a fake press release… falsely announcing the shortlist for a Computer-Based Test (CBT)… We wish to categorically state that the said press release is fraudulent,” the statement read in part.
The Customs Service appealed to the public, especially job seekers, to disregard the viral notice and desist from sharing or acting on unverified information.
It emphasised that authentic updates concerning its recruitment exercise would only be published via its official website, verified social media pages, and recognised national dailies.
The Service further disclosed that it is working to trace the source of the false release and would take necessary steps to bring the culprits to book.
While appreciating the vigilance of well-meaning Nigerians who brought the issue to light, the NCS reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process in all its recruitment activities.
