Beware Of Motorcycle Snatching Syndicate, Osun Police Alerts Residents
Osun State Police Command has warned residents particularly commercial motorcyclists in the state to be cautious of passengers they carry or employ their services.
The warning was issued by Mohammed Umar Abba, the Commissioner of Police, in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola.
According to the statement, the warning became imperative as the Police Command had noticed a disturbing trend of motorcycle snatching in recent times.
“The modus operandi of the criminals involves boarding commercial motorcyclists and luring them to isolated areas late at nights, sometimes offering bogus/enticing prices to the said motorcyclists to lure them to take them to inconspicuous and isolated areas where they, (cyclists) will be attacked and their bikes snatched.

“In some cases, the motorcyclists have been severely injured or even killed,” he stated.
CP Abba also enjoined the leadership of Okada Riders Association in the state to continually lecture and sensitise their members in order to avoid being victims of the trending crime.
The Command also advised them to report suspicious passengers and their activities to the nearest police station.
“The CP is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors of Osun State as the Police Command is working tirelessly to apprehend and prosecute those involved in these heinous crimes,” the command assured.
