The naira traded at between ₦1,385 and ₦1,400 per United States dollar in the parallel market, popularly known as the black market, on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Bureau de Change operators and currency traders indicated that the dollar was bought at an average rate of ₦1,385/$ and sold at approximately ₦1,400/$, although rates may vary across locations and dealers depending on demand and supply.

Meanwhile, the official foreign exchange market recorded the naira at about ₦1,370.08 to the dollar, reflecting a narrower gap between the official and parallel market rates.

Nigeria’s foreign exchange market has continued to experience fluctuations amid changing demand for the dollar, foreign exchange inflows and monetary policy measures by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Analysts say exchange rates in both the official and parallel markets remain subject to daily changes, urging businesses and individuals involved in foreign exchange transactions to confirm prevailing rates before completing transactions.
