Boko Haram is Recruting Fighters- NSCDC

Boko Haram terrorists are desperately recruiting young people into their fold having been decimated and degraded by the Nigerian Military. The Borno State commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has said.

He made the revelation following the kidnap of 10 persons, including four women and 6 youths, from communities in Kodnuga Local Government Area of Borno State by suspected Boko Haram fighters.

Abdullahi called on citizens of the state who longed to return to their homes to be careful and not live in areas that are not well secured by the army as the insurgents now kidnap people and force them into becoming jihadists.
“This is a clarion call to Nigerians to be on the alert at all times and always report any suspicious activities around them to the security agencies,” he said.

“Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, who are desperate to return to their liberated communities, should desist from living in areas that are not properly secured by armed personnel.”
Abdullahi told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Maiduguri on Tuesday that the insurgents had also invaded Mittiri, Akalli and Arribbari villages in the same Konduga local government area.

“Our intelligence report had indicated that the insurgents are now operating in Dalla Fatimiri on about 10 motorcycles.

“Our men of Anti-vandalism and Intelligence Unit of the Command on Friday reported the kidnapping of four youths in Kalari village in Konduga local government area,” he said.

NAN reports that Internally Displaced Persons from Konduga, a town located few kilometers away from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, have been returning home with the hope of rebuilding their lives.

Official estimates have it that more than 100,000 persons have been killed since the Boko Haram insurgency began in 2009, while more than 2 million people have been displaced.
