Boko Haram Refugees From Neighbouring Countries Will Be Evacuated – FG
Nigerians who were dislodged from their homes by the Boko Haram Insurgency and became refugees in Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republic will be evacuated back home.
The Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Aliyu Tijjani Ahmed, made this known during a visit to a satellite city built for refugees of Boko Haram insurgency at Marua in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
He hinted that similar satellite cities with sustainable sources of livelihood will be developed across the nation to resettle displaced persons.
He said, “We discussed on the issue of evacuation of our refugees from Cameroon, Niger and Chad and it was agreed that a tripartite meeting will hold and the commission will return to the office.
“We will sit down to come up with processes and procedures which we will apply in evacuating our people that are living in Cameroon, Niger and Chad. This is going to be handled by the commission, the government of Borno State and UNCHR.”
