Boluwaduro APC Yes Or No Chairman Allegedly Orders 15% Of Released LG Allocations Paid To Private Account As Legal Fees
The Chairman of Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Bayo Oyekanmi, has allegedly ordered the payment of some amount from the reportedly released withheld allocations to a private account.
In a letter circulating online, which he allegedly co-signed with the council treasurer, Lasisi Oyebode, and addressed to the Manager, United Bank of Africa, Oyekanmi instructed the bank to deduct 15 percent from the allocation of the council and pay it into the account of a law firm as legal fees.
The chairman in the letter gave the account number of the beneficiary.
The letter read in part, “We wish to direct that fifteen percent (15) credited into our account in September, 2025 be deducted as unanimously agreed at our general meeting held on 26 September, 2025 as legal fee.”
Check by OSUN DEFENDER showed that the account from which the money was allegedly to be debited bears the name ‘Boluwaduro’.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party in the state has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to invetsigate the alleged attempt by the APC chairmen to illegally pay out almost N13 billion of the state’s Local Government funds as legal fees.
In a statement issued in Osogbo on Wednesday and signed by its State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the PDP said it gathered authoritatively that the APC ex-chairmen in all the 30 Local Government Councils gave the same instruction to the bank.
“The total balance in all LG accounts is about N85 billion. Fifteen percent of that amount translates to N12.75 billion which these APC men wanted to pay out as legal fees. Fortunately, the Oyo State High Court order of last Friday stopped them and their scheme,” he disclosed.
He added that the ex-council chairmen used non-council staff members as treasurers and co-signatories of the letters.
“There is no officer designated as treasurer in the local government scheme of service across the country. Yet these people used individuals who are not local government staff to fill the non-existent position of treasurer. One of those so used to sign the letter is a non-teaching staff of a private polytechnic in Boluwaduro Local Government Area. It is shocking,” the PDP chairman said.
“We call on the Inspector-General of Police to open criminal investigations into these letters and their authors. All perpetrators of this illegality must be brought to book,” the statement concluded.
Efforts to get the reaction of Mr. Oyekanmi proved abortive as calls put across to him were not connecting as at the time of this report.
However, a chieftain of the APC while speaking with newsmen, said the letter was a move by the Peoples Democratic Party in the state to paint the APC black and should be disregarded.
