Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State have warned the leadership of the party in the local government and the state against the imposition of a candidate for the House of Assembly election in Boripe/Boluwaduro state constituency.

The stakeholders warned that any attempt to impose a candidate on the party will affect the chances of the party in the election.

The APC members who said it’s the turn of Boripe Local Government Area to present the candidate for the state House of Assembly in Boripe/Boluwaduro constituency of the state, alleged that there are plans by some leaders of the party to impose a candidate on the party in the name of consensus arrangement.

It was gathered that the candidate being planned to present is a son of one of the leaders of the party in Boripe Local Government Area.

Already, many contestants have signified intention to contest the election and they had all obtained the party’s nomination form.

However, it was gathered that there are plans to impose a son of one of the leaders of the party in the local government on the party, a situation which the members threatened to oppose vehemently.

The party stakeholders noted that the person being planned to impose on the party is not known to the party as he lives abroad.

Also, it was gathered that the perceived aspirant being planned to impose is not familiar with Iragbiji, his hometown and the two Local Government Areas of Boripe and Boluwaduro, which make up the constituency.

The concerned members of the party insisted that they will not support any candidate imposed on the party and therefore made a case for a primary election, which they said will give room for the best candidate to emerge.
