Hon. Idowu Ismaila Abiodun has emerged the new Chairman of Boripe North Local Council Development Area in the State of Osun.
Following the death of the former chairman of the council, Prince Bola Adejumo in May this year, Hon Akinyemi Joseph had been elected in acting capacity by the council’s lawmakers with a view to filling the vacuum created by the sudden exit of Adejumo.
However, at a subsequent bye-election held at Ward 6 area of the LCDA on Saturday, July 14, 2018, to fill the vacant position created by the death of the erstwhile chairman, Hon Idowu emerged as the newly elected councillor for the Ward.
Shortly after being sworn-in as a Councillor at the sitting of the LCDA’s Parliamentarians on Monday 23rd July, 2018, Hon Adebiyi Babatunde, Councillor representing Ward 7 moved the motion that Hon Idowu be elected as the substantive Chairman of the LCDA.
The motion was seconded by Hon Afeez Adeleke of Ward 11 after which the Leader of the House, Hon Adeniyi Gbenga Jacob, affirmed the appointment. The new Chairman was immediately sworn-in as the helmsman of the council.
Speaking after his emergence as the Chairman, Hon Idowu lauded the Governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who created the LCDA’s in order to bring developments closer the grassroots, which also gave him the opportunity of becoming the council boss.
He assured the council’s parliamentarian and the mammoth crowd who came to witness the proceeding that he would work assiduously to turn around the fortunes of the LCDA for good.
The new chairman sought the co-operation of other councillors as well as career officers in making the aspiration of lifting the council to a lofty height, a reality.
The out-gone acting chairman, Hon Akinyemi Joseph on behalf of other councillors assured the new chairman their unalloyed co-operation.
The Chairman of the mother council, Boripe Local Government, Hon. Adebayo Adelani after congratulating the new council boss, prayed for peace and development in the LCDA.
