The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, on Wednesday arrived at Maiduguri Airforce Base and proceeded straight to the Theatre Command Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI.

Theor arrival follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive that all service chiefs must relocate to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, to nip in the bud the rising cases of Boko Haram/ISWAP attacks and bombings.

At the Air Force Base, the service chiefs were received by the theatre commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, and other top military brass at about 11am.

After mounting the Guard of Honour at the Maimalari Military Cantonment in Maiduguri, the service chiefs went into a closed-door meeting, as the CDS is billed to address journalists who are anxiously waiting.
