Borussia Dortmund Coach Hans-Joachim Watzke Lambastes Aubameyang’s Behaviour
Borussia Dortmund has stated their displeasure about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s behaviour during his forced moved to Arsenal.
Chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke says the Gabon striker made it obvious on and off the pitch with is behaviors and actions that he wants to leave for Arsenal.
Aubameyang has subsequently apologised to the German team’s fans on Instagram following the month-long saga, but his former boss is still not happy after he had to put up with similar behaviour from Ousmane Dembele over his move to Barcelona last year.
“I laid it on the line for the squad: the next player who does something like that will fail miserably,” Watzke told German paper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
“The next player who tries to put us under pressure by withholding performances or even going on strike will not get a pass and will instead sit in the stands. They are all aware of it. This is now a public statement.
” Following Dembele and Aubameyang, there is now an overriding interest for the club – we need to get a better structure into our squad again.”
When he was asked why he did not make Aubameyang complete the remainder of his deal at the Bundesliga club, Watzke replied: “Because we had the impression there will be no new start for him [at Dortmund]… not with the fans, not with the team. Too much had been damaged through his behaviour.”
