BREAKING: Court Grants Ex-OAU VC Bail Over Alleged N1.5b Fraud

Osun State High Court setting in Osogbo on Friday granted bail to the former Acting Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Professor Anthony Elujoba.

Justice Oladimeji granted Elujoba bail on self recognition but ordered not to travel out of Nigeria during the trial period with the EFCC depositing his official passport with the court.

The bursar of the school, Mrs Josephine Akeredolu was also granted bail with the sum of fifty million naira with two sureties in like sum.

The two sureties are to be high ranking members of the academic or non-academic staff of the university.
The sureties are to deposit their information for onward verification.
The development made staff and students of the university erupt in wild jubilation ending days of protests over the case.

In the meantime, Staff and students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife thronged Osogbo, the state capital on Friday morning in solidarity with Professor Elujoba, who acted as the Vice Chancellor of the instiution.

Professor Elujoba and Mrs Akeredolu are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission on allegations of financial impropriety.

The case which is being presided over by Justice David Oladimeji of the Osun State High Court in Ede, was moved to Osogbo due to the invasion of court premises by the irate students who are displeased with the arrest of former don.
