BREAKING: Meranda Resigns As Lagos Assembly Speaker
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, has resigned.
Meranda announced her resignation at plenary on Monday, after weeks of intense battle over the leadership of the assembly since the impeachment of former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the resignation brings to a close weeks of political turmoil in the Assembly.
In an emotional speech, Meranda said she resigned to protect the institution.
Immediately after she resigned, she was re-elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.
