Mr Saheed Olabomi, a resident of Osogbo, State of Osun, who was hit by stray bullet of gunshots from mobile policemen on Tuesday, is dead.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that Olabomi, an indigene of Iragbiji, gave up the ghost late yesterday at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital (formerly (LAUTECH) where he was receiving treating.
Olabomi was rushed to the hospital after been hit by stray bullet as a result of sporadic gunshots from the mobile policemen, following the crisis between them and some truck drivers, according to eye witnesses.
The incident, which occurred at Oke Onitea area of Osogbo around 5pm on Tuesday, ignited protest from commercial motorcyclists (okada riders) who set up bonfire at Oke-Fia and Lameco roundabouts and Oke-Onitea junction.
The angry commercial motorcyclists had believed that Olabomi was one of them, but the deceased was said to be a passenger.
Confirming his death, the Public Relations Officer, Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Mr Ayodele Adeyemo, said Olabomi died yesterday after surgery.
Adeyemo sympathised with the family of the deceased, describing the death as unfortunate.
