The Nigeria Senate has confirmed the nomination of Major General Farouk Yahaya for appointment as Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Osun Defender gathered that the confirmation of Yahaya followed the presentation and consideration of the report of the Joint Senate Committee on Defence and Army at plenary.
The medium learnt that the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Aliyu Wamakko presented the report.
General Yahaya has been serving as COAS on acting capacity following the death of his predecessor, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in a military plane crash in Kaduna.
