Buhari, APC And INEC ASK Tribunal To Dismiss PDP’s Petition

President Muhammadu Buhari and his party the All Progressives Congress, have urged the presidential election petition tribunal to dismiss the petition of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Also asking the tribunal to strike out the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party is the Independent National Electoral Commission.

While the President, prayed the tribunal to strike out the petition filed by Atiku challenging the re-election on the grounds that it is fundamentally defective, INEC on its part asked the tribunal to dismiss the appeal because of the failure of the petitioners to join Vice-president Yemi Osibanjo who won a joint ticket with the President as a party in the suit.

The tribunal on Tuesday heard a total of sixteen applications from the petitioners – the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate and the respondents which include the All Progressive Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Chairman of the tribunal directed parties to adopt their written briefs and thereafter adjourned the ruling in the applications on a day to be communicated to parties.
