President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday inaugurated the new National Economic Council, NEC, which will be headed by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo from 2019 to 2023.
The inauguration ceremony, which started around 1.23pm at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, had in attendance 36 state governors and their deputies and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
Others are the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari and CBN Governor, Emeka Emefiele.
In his speech, President Buhari urged the new NEC to press forward with key initiatives, especially in the area of security, education, health and agriculture.
According to him, attaining progress in the four areas will ensure a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
