Buhari Seeks Senate’s Confirmation Of Tanko Mohammed As Substantive CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a letter to the Nigerian Senate for the confirmation of Justice Tanko Muhammad as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.

The President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan read the letter conveying the request on the floor of the Senate on Thursday.

The National Judicial Commission had on Wednesday, recommended the appointment of Muhammad as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria after an emergency meeting was convened.

Buhari appointed Tanko Muhammad as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria in January after sacking Justice Walter Onnoghen for false declaration of assets.
