President Muhammadu Buhari would return to Nigeria at the weekend following his ongoing 10-day working vacation in London, the presidency confirmed on Wednesday.
The confirmation came from Mr. Femi Adesina, spokesman to President Buhari when he appeared on ARISE TV’s The Morning Show.
Adesina asserted that President Buhari would unfailingly return to the country ‘this weekend’.
He noted that he maintains constant communication with President Buhari as he could sometimes speak with him up to two or three times a day.
President Buhari embarked on the working vacation on August 3 having transmitting power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who has made two key decisions since then.
Osinbajo ordered the sack of Lawal Daura, Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, and the overhaul of SARS.
Since Daura’s sack, he has been on detention, and Adesina attempted to explain why this.
Adesina also revealed that before Daura’s sack, the government was already inching towards a breakthrough on the release of Leah Sharibu.
Leah, one of the 110 Dapchi schoolgirls, kidnapped earlier in the year, was held back by Boko Haram when her peers were freed following her refusal to renounce her Christian faith.
