Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State says the corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is yielding positive fruits.
The governor during an interview on Channels Television programme, Roadmap 2019, noted that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has put in place mechanisms that are confronting corruption in the country.
“There are certain mechanisms that this government has put in place that quietly corruption is given a retreat.
“Though in some cases, they may be fighting back. But there are more of others that are retreating than those that are fighting back,” he said.
The governor said further that President Buhari’s war against corruption has remained successful and received accolades from world leaders for his hard stance against corruption.
“I was privileged to be on the President’s entourage to America where we met Obama. One of the issues the President raised early in his administration was to see Obama’s cooperation and other world leaders to repatriate looted funds. Nigerians and other nationals have taken to that country.
“Obama decisively there and then gave the President some accolades and said he was going to cooperate with Mr. President to ensure that all looted funds that were stashed in his country will be repatriated.
“So the fight against corruption is holistic. It is in many facets but people have just taken maybe one or two issue that somebody was taken to the EFCC because he is from this party,” he added.
The governor also appealed to Nigerians to cooperate with the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu in the fight against corruption.
