Olufunke Kolawole Lake Resort, located within the Osun State Secretariat, has become an eyesore, with bush and dirt taking over major parts of the facility.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the resort, setup to be an attractive sight to behold for visitors and workers at the secretariat, is now a shadow of its former self.
The resort was commissioned by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola on April 17, 2018, while his successor, Gboyega Oyetola, maintained it during his tenure.
OSUN DEFENDER visited the resort yesterday and observed that the lake water and its surroundings have been taken over by bush.
It also noticed that the environment is dirty and smelly.
The resort was built in honour of Kolawole, who was the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of General Services, Office of the Governor, before her death while returning from an official assignment on July 17, 2017.ย
Speaking with the medium, a staff of the State Ministry of Tourism said the state government had not been taking care of the resort like the previous administrations.
The civil servant, who does not want his name in print because he was not authorised to speak, noted that those in charge of the resort have turned a blind eye to the situation.
โIt is very embarrassing that the resort, which was a sight to behold in the past, has become so busy, dirty and unattractive.
โIt is not only embarrassing but also a shame to the state government as visitors to the state secretariat might have bad impressions about this present administration.
โThose who are in charge of the lake donโt look like they care about it, which is very bad. The place looks like a shadow of its former self and needs urgent attention.
โI just hope Governor Ademola Adelekeโs will be called to it, and necessary action will be taken to return that place to how it was before it became this bad,โ the civil servant said.
