Businessman Arraigned For Playing Bet With Customer’s Money

Olatunbosun Sowumi, a 32 year old has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, the State capital of Osun, for using money meant for supplies to a customer to play bet.

The prosecutor, Adepoju Kayode, told the court that the defendant committed the purported crime on May 13, 2022 when he collected N370,000 from one Akinboro Semirat with a promise to supply her 16 bags of rice but failed to do so.

He noted that the crime the accused person committed was contrary to sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 law of Osun State.

Olatunbosun pleaded not guilty to the charges levied against him by the police.

He had earlier told the presiding Magistrate that he used the money to play bet in order to make some money before supplying the rice.

The defence counsel, Kehinde Adepoju, urged the court to grant him bail in the most liberal term.

Dr Olusegun Ayilara, the magistrate, thereby granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties and adjourned the case to July 15 for hearing.
