Bye Elections: Omoluabi Progressives Blasts Police For Disrupting ADC Rally In Ogun
The Omoluabi Progressives, under the leadership of Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, has condemned what it described as the “shameful and undemocratic” action of the Ogun State–backed Nigeria Police in allegedly blocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) campaign team from entering the state ahead of Saturday’s Remo North Federal Constituency bye-election.
In a statement signed by its Organising and Publicity Secretary, Abosede Busayo Oluwaseun, the group said the incident, which occurred on Thursday, amounted to a deliberate attempt to frustrate the party’s participation in the electoral process.
According to the statement, the blockade happened despite the ADC presenting an official notification letter to the police, which it claimed had also been made public.
The group described the action as “a glaring example of political intolerance” and “a national disgrace”, accusing the police of acting in the interest of the ruling party.
It urged Nigerians, particularly the people of Remo North, to resist what it called intimidation and the misuse of state institutions.
The statement further advised the police to remain neutral, warning that if the force intended to play partisan politics, it should register as a political party and test its popularity at the polls.
