Bye-Elections: Peter Obi Urges Supporters To Vote ADC Candidates
The presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has urged his supporters to back the candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during the forthcoming by-elections across some states in the country.
He stated this in a post on his X handle on Thursday.
Obi told his supporters not to vote for the Labour Party because it has no recognised candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, due to the lingering internal crisis.
The bye-elections will take place on August 16, 2025, in 16 states across the country, with two senatorial, five Federal House of Representatives, and nine State Assembly seats available for voting.
Obi in the posts, said, “Kindly note that because the Labour Party has no recognised candidates by INEC due to the internal crisis.
“I humbly urge every member of Obidient and COPDEM families to go out and vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states.”
Reacting to the message, the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party, LP, asked party members to disregard the directives.
In a statement signed by the factional chairman of the party, Julius Abure, the party said it is on the ballot for the by-elections.
