Cabinet Reshuffling: Pro-Wike’s Commissioner Rejects Redeployment, Resigns From Fubara’s Govt
The former Rivers State Commissioner for Justice and the Attorney General of the State, Professor Zacchacus Adangor, has rejected his redeployment to the Ministry of Special Duties by resigning from the administration of Governor Similanayi Fubara.
Osun Defender reported on Tuesday that Fubara moved Adangor, alongside former Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu.
Kamalu was moved to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
They are both loyalists of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The duo were asked to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in their ministries.
Professor Zacchacus Adangor in a letter of resignation dated 24th April 2024, and addressed to the Secretary to Rivers State government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, said he was no longer willing to continue to serve in the administration of Fubara.
He accused the governor of willfully interfering with his duties as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice by directing him not to defend, oppose or appear in suits instituted against the Attorney-General and government of Rivers State by persons he said were admittedly hired and sponsored by the government of Rivers State.
“I wish to state for the record that I am no longer willing to serve in Sir Similanayi Fubara administration in any capacity whatsoever. It’s important to mention that the governor of Rivers State had in the past couple of weeks wilfully interfered with the performance of my duties as the Attorney-General of the State and Commissioner for Justice by directing me not to defend, oppose or appear in suits instituted against the Honourable Attorney General and the government of Rivers State by persons admittedly hired and sponsored by the government of Rivers State.”
He said having served as a cabinet member of Rivers government in the past five years, he had no option than to resign and save his reputation.
