Plateau United striker Rapheal Ayagawa is defiant about his side’s chances against Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in the first round second leg clash of the CAF Champions League in Jos on Sunday.
Plateau United lost 4-2 in the first leg played in Tunis a forthnight ago and need just two goals to progress through to the next round but with the first leg repeating itself in the goal margins, then the game would move into penalties.
Ayagawa who scored a brilliant ‘Paneka’ penalty in the defeat for Plateau United says an early goal will aid their challenge for the group stages easier.
“If you remember we conceded two early goals which unsettled us in the first leg,”Ayagawa told CSN ahead of the second leg clash.
“So if we come out to get at least one in the opening ten minutes we stand a chance of beating them to go through with our quality.
“But we must be careful too because they also have a good team that can hurt us if we are not solid.”
Plateau United are fifth in the NPFL table with 18 points from ten games and this is their maiden appearance in the CAF Champions League.
