Campus: FEDPOLY, Ede Graduates Decry Delay In Issuance Of Certificates

SOME graduates of Federal Polytechnic, Ede have lamented the non-issuance of their certificates by the institution after several years of graduation.

The graduates have continued to express dissatisfaction over the delay in the release of their certificates by the school management, despite payment of necessary fees as stipulated in the process of request for certificate.

Some of them said they had graduated since 2015 and were yet to get their certificates.

Speaking with OSUN DEFENDER on the condition of anonymity, some of the graduates said: “We believe when you are admitted to study a particular course in a school, and you meritoriously passed series of tests and examinations, you are entitled to academic certificate. But the case of FEDPOLY, Ede, State of Osun is not like that.

“All the prescribed fees were paid, a lot of complaints have been passed to the management, but rather than hearing our cries, they turned our certificates to corruption ground and this has affected most of us, especially, class of 2016.”

Another graduate of the institution said he had being to school severally and had been told the certificate was yet to be signed.

He said: “I think the story is just the same with all of us, 2015 set. I personally have been to school on severally occasions and all they kept saying is someone is yet to sign. My employer even came to school to confirm if I actually graduated or not. And all Federal Polytechnic Ede management could offer them was a copy of where my name appeared on the convocation brochure.

“They keep saying the certificate is not ready after four years of graduation.”

Another alumnus, during in a chat with our OSUN DEFENDER, said: “From my own point of view, I think the certificates are ready but one person is delaying them – and it is the Registrar of the school, who is supposed to sign them. And we all know how all these civil servants do when it comes to job responsibility, they don’t take their job serious at all.”

In his reaction, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Sola Lawal, described the allegations as fallacious, adding that the management attached utmost importance to the issuance of certificates.

He said: “Please disregard it, it is an allegation based on fallacy. There is nothing like that in our institution. For the avoidance of doubts, I can take you to the exams and records unit. The moment they (the certificates) get to the Office of the Rector, he signs. We don’t treat anything that pertains to that with levity.”
