A Higher National Diploma (HND) II student of the Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT) in the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Olufunke Afolabi recently died in a hospital, the night after giving birth to twins.
Olufunke was said to have started labour while in the examination hall and was rush to the hospital where she gave birth before she later died.
The final year student, Olufunke died due to heavy bleeding after she gave birth on Friday April 13, 2019.
The Public Relations Officer of the Student Union Government (SUG) Olayinka Owolabi in a statement described the death of the student as shock to the union.
The union said, “The Students’ Union Government Executives express shock over the sudden death of one of us who is a final year student of SLT department.
“It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the death of our dear sister, Afolabi Olufunke who was blessed with twins but gave up the ghost later in the night .
“We pray to Almighty Allah in his infinite mercy to guide and protect us from untimely death and may we never experience such again.”
