Car owners have been admonished to take necessary precaution whenever they park their vehicles to prevent the theft of their car batteries.
The admonition was given by Chief Gbadebo Adeyemo, the chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) of Ataoja Police Division, Ataoja Estate at the State capital during the monthly meeting of the PCRC recently.
He stressed the fact that the dexterity with which these car batteries are stolen show that it is done with the assistance of some panel beaters and mechanics who know more about vehicles.
Another member of the PCRC also raised the issues of burglary, saying that churches in his area were forced open and valuables carted away.
Members were advised to be wary of workmen like panel beaters, drivers, mechanics so that they do not expose every security devices to them.
On the whole, the Divisional Police Officer DPO, CSP Banawi Ishaku represented by the District Crime Officer (DCO), SP Adeniran Emmanuel stated that the police had little to do in terms of dealing with criminals, that notwithstanding, members were asked to be vigilant at all times.
Members were asked to challenge commercial motorcycle operators who work at odd hours, and where cogent reasons are not given, the police should be immediately informed.
Also the contribution of members towards the completion of PCRC Hall at the Police Division was solicited.
