Car Dealer Arraigned For Alleged Fraud In Osogbo

A 59-year-old car dealer, Abiodun Famakinwa, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly duping a customer of a sum of N3m in Osogbo.

Famakinwa was accused of obtaining the money from one Apanpa Richard, under the pretence of purchasing a Toyota Camry car for him.

The defendant was also accused of using force and threat to retrieve the said vehicle from the complainant after delivering it to him.

According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the defendant committed the offence in the month of April, 2022.

The alleged offence contravened Section 422, 419, 516, 386, 390(9) and 406 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and fraud levelled against him.

Applying for the bail of the defendant, defence counsel, Kehinde Adepoju, prayed the court to admit  him to bail on a liberal and term, promising that he would provide reliable sureties.

Ruling on the bail application, the presiding Magistrate, M.A Olatunji admitted the accused person to bail in a sum of N1m with two sureties.

The case was adjourned till October 31, 2022 for hearing.
