A 47-year-old car dealer, Agbolahan Adewale, has been remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly duping one of his customers of sum of N2.6m in Osogbo.
Adewale was said to have fraudulently obtained the money from one Ganiyat Adebisi with pretence of purchasing a Toyota Matrix car for her.
According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, the accused person committed the offence between February 11 and March 4, 2022 in Osogbo.
The alleged offence contravened Section 422 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and unlawful possession levelled against him.
Defence counsel, O.O Fagbewesa, prayed the court to admit the defendant bail on liberal term, noting that a reliable surety will stand for him throughout the trial.
The police prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo objected the oral bail application by the defence counsel, stating that he might jump bail.
In his ruling, the presiding magistrate, Abayomi Ajala, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.
The case was adjourned till September 28, 2022.
