A magistrate court in Osogbo has sentenced a 46-year-old man, Sikiru Ajani to three months imprisonment for stealing Gionne phone.
Sikiru was docked on two count charge bothering on stealing to which he pleaded guilty.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Joshua Oladoye said the accused person committed the offence on December 12, 2017 at about 1pm in Osogbo.
According to him, the convict stole one Gionee Mobile phone valued N55,000 belonging to Tosin Agunbiade, the complainant.
The prosecutor also said the convict carted away cash sum of N120,000.
The accused person stole the items at a store opposite his workshop in Osogbo.
The complainant stated in court that he was not interested in prosecuting the accused or payment of money but his phone should be returned to him.
He submitted that the offence contravene section 516 punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2002.
The defendant pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy that no one would cater for his wife and children.
The magistrate, Mr Taofeek Badmus while ruling discharge the accused on count one and convicted him on count two.
While delivering judgment, he sentenced him to three months imprisonment with an option of N10,000 fine. He also ordered the phone to be returned to the complainants.
