In an admirable aura and celebrating ambience, the leadership of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, under the Rectorship of Comrade Kehinde Alabi, in collaboration with the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Engr Ogunwemimo and Head of Electrical and Electronic department, Engr Mayowa Omotayo, today, honoured the significant impact and contribution of a pioneering lecturer at the institution’s department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engr Adeolu Olawuni, who departed the institution since 2020, and presently serves as the Dean, Students’ Affairs, Federal Polytechnic, Ile Oluji.
The Rector of the institution, Mr. Kehinde Alabi during his address, congratulated Olawuni on his send off, and he encouraged him to continue to be the astute and transformative leader he has always been.
“if your service to the institution and effort to better lives of students’ life was not impactful, it would be difficult to gather this number of people to honour you. This beautiful gathering is a testament to your groundbreaking legacy and it is worthy of emulation.”, Alabi said.
Also, the Deputy Rector, Dr. G.O Oyeleke who was also present at Olawuni’s send off ceremony applauded him, stressing that all the encomium he got were all seed of his loyalty, dedication and commitment to the institution and students.
In a similar vein, Registrar of the institution, Prince Oyedele Oloyede who traced his friendship with Olawuni to far back as the 1990s, described Adeolu as a prolific sportsman, intelligent lecturer and transformative leader. He narrated how he played football , volleyball alongside with Olawuni at different NIPOGA competitions, and they performed extraordinarily.
Oloyede also commended the wife and family of Olawuni for taking care of him, as he teased the latter for looking chubbier than the former slim sportsman he knew him to be.
Engr Adeolu Olawuni during his speech at his Send off ceremony, expressed happiness and appreciation to the leadership of his former place of employment, OSPOLY, especially the HOD of Elect/Elect, Mr Mayowa Omotayo for his thoughtfulness, and willingness to honour his hard work and contribution to Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
He further acknowledged the presence of members of the institution’s management, HODs, Deans, lecturers, Alumni, and students and he encouraged the institution to always celebrate employees who are dedicated in the service of the Polytechnic, stating thst “celebration is a major source of motivation.”
Adeolu, while reminiscing his journey in Osun State Polytechnic, Iree noted that while serving as the a lecturer and HOD of Elect/Elect, he gave his best in serving the institution, especially in ensuring that his students grow morally and academically.
He added that his appointment as Dean, Students’ Affairs, Federal Polytechnic, Ile Oluji, in less than 4-years of joining the institution is a testament to hard work, and the positive recommendation of an erstwhile Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr Agboola.
During his remark, the incumbent Head of Electrical and Electronic department, Engr Mayowa Omotayo appreciated the Rector of OSPOLY, Comrade Kehinde Alabi; Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Engr Ogunwemimo; Dean, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Dr Ogunleye and other personalities at the occasion of Olawuni’s send off.
Engr Omotayo also recounted that he was once faced with financial challenges, when he was suspended from the institution due to some misunderstanding, but Engr Olawuni came through for him and supported him financially.
While sharing tribute to Olawuni, he also recalled how Olawuni was a passionate leader who looks out for the advancement of his team members, disclosing that “as a young lecturer, I was naive on procedure of promotion, but he assisted me and mentored me. I am forever indebted to him.”, Engr Mayowa noted.

In the spirit of appreciation for Engineer Adeolu Olawuni’s stupendous contribution to the institution, the Rector of the institution, Mr Kehinde Alabi presented a huge, but rapped present to Olawuni, others gave him presents, while some offered a cash gift to the celebrant.
