Speaking further, he said all safety measures needed to combat the disease have been put in place, with sensitisation programmes being held across media stations in the state.
According to him: “We just finished the cholera technical group meeting comprising of Ministry of Water especially RUWESA, ministry environment, and all our agencies – OAU Teaching Hospital, UNIOSUN teaching hospital, the primary Healthcare development board and development partners, WHO, Red Cross, UNICEF.
“The summary of the report is still the same thing. As of today, we’ve recorded 14 suspected cases. And the results of 13 out of the 14 are negative.
“We are only expecting the result of the 14th one. Even at that the boy whose sample was taken to the laboratory is jumping and kicking. He started playing football at the time the state visited the household. We are responsible for the drugs administered on him. We have identified all his contacts -his siblings and parents, but he is hale and hearty.
” We are only waiting for the result, it should be out by tomorrow. So no confirmed case up till now.
“We have all safety measures put in place. The director of Public Health was on air yesterday at OSBC and by Saturday another person will still be there to sensitize the people,” he said.
